Walkies API — Terms of Use

Version v1

These Walkies API Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Walkies API, API keys, documentation and related developer tools. They are in addition to, and incorporate, the Walkies Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By subscribing to the Walkies API, generating an API key, or making any API request, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the API.

1. Eligibility & subscription

Use of the API requires an active "Walkies API" subscription and acceptance of the current API Terms. If your subscription lapses or you do not accept an updated version of these Terms, your API keys stop working.

2. Licence (internal use only)

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the API solely to access and manage your own company’s data, for your own internal business operations. You may NOT, without our prior written agreement: build, operate, distribute or sell any product, service or application to third parties using the API; build or operate anything that competes with, replicates or recreates Walkies; resell or sublicense the API or API keys; access the data of any company other than your own; use the API or data obtained through it to train machine-learning models or build a dataset for distribution; or circumvent rate limits, authentication or other controls.

3. API keys & security

API keys are secrets. You are responsible for keeping them confidential and for all activity under your keys. Do not embed keys in client-side or public code; notify us immediately if a key is compromised. You may revoke and regenerate keys at any time.

4. Acceptable use & compliance

Use the API lawfully and in good faith. You are responsible for any integration you build and for complying with all applicable laws, including export-control and economic-sanctions laws; you may not use the API from or for the benefit of any embargoed/sanctioned region or party.

5. Your data and your customers’ personal data

Data accessed via the API includes personal data of your customers and their pets. As between you and us, you are the controller of that data and are responsible for handling it lawfully under all data protection and privacy laws applicable to you and your customers (e.g. UK GDPR, EU GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and other national or US state laws) — including a lawful basis, data-subject rights, required notices, lawful international transfer, and keeping it secure once it leaves Walkies.

6. Rate limits & fair use

The API is subject to rate limits and fair-use controls. We may throttle, queue or reject requests, and may suspend keys placing excessive or abusive load on the service.

7. Changes to the API

The API will evolve. We aim to avoid breaking changes to published, documented endpoints and to give reasonable advance notice of material breaking changes where practicable. Undocumented behaviour and beta features may change at any time.

8. Availability & warranties

The API is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular service level unless separately agreed in writing.

9. Fees

Access requires the Walkies API subscription at the then-current price shown at purchase, billed through your normal Walkies billing method and non-refundable except as required by law.

10. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or revoke API access immediately for breach, non-payment, or if your use threatens the security, integrity or availability of the service. You may cancel at any time; on termination your licence ends and keys are revoked.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or lost profits/revenue/data/goodwill. Our total aggregate liability will not exceed the amounts you paid for the Walkies API subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses arising from your use of the API, your applications, or your handling of personal data in breach of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes require you to re-accept before continued API use; we record the version you accepted. Continued use after a non-material update constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, whose courts have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections.
